Support US / ADOPT / Homme
Hi, I’m Homme
We rescued Homme last September after he was found at a local coffee shop, suffering from a bad ear injury. The shop owner hadn’t seen him in the neighbourhood before and suspected he’d been dumped by his owner. This would explain why Homme was so naturally sweet and trusting when we first approached him, and also why he likely got himself into a fight.
Life on the streets is tough and, after spending time as a fully domesticated dog, Homme would have found it harder to blend in or defend himself. Fortunately, we were able to rescue him before his injury became too severe. He was given immediate treatment and welcomed into life on The Farm where he’s been living ever since.
Ready to adopt Homme?
Homme might be a bigger than most of the dogs at the shelter, but he is the definition of a gentle giant. He adores quality time with the team – this dog loves a belly rub!
Homme has an insatiable appetite and has even been known to finish up other dogs’ leftovers when they’re done. But his gentle nature means that there’s no squabbles at mealtime and he can be trusted to eat with others without getting into any fights.
Unsurprisingly, Homme is also a big fan of treats; being food-motivated makes him a delight to train and we think he’ll be a quick learner who’ll enjoy learning some new tricks in his new home.
Homme is an affectionate softie who loves a fuss. He adores people and gets on well with the other dogs on The Farm, particularly the females.
Homme’s perfect home?
As a larger dog, Homme would love a home with plenty of space where he can run and play. His adopter will need to commit to giving him all the exercise and mental stimulation he deserves.
Homme gets on well with most dogs, but feels more relaxed around females. He can be reactive to the more dominant males on The Farm, although with a bit training and support we’re sure he’ll be able to get on well with all dogs. He’s fundamentally a big softie at heart!
Homme would be happy to be the only dog in the home, but he’d equally enjoy the company of a resident female who can show him the ropes of homelife.
